We have put together a start-of-year checklist for you. It should take about 15 minutes to run through if you don't encounter any problems. It could take longer if you do, but it will be time well spent avoiding problems later on and ensuring a seamless experience for faculty and students when they use POWER Library.
Welcome Back Checklist
Contact Information- Look up your school in the Participant Directory and make sure that all the contact information is correct. If it isn't, then let us know by email at support@hslc.org.
- If you are not receiving this newsletter at your preferred email address, please let us know by email at support@hslc.org so that we can update our mailing lists.
- Please forward this newsletter to the librarians in your district that participate in POWER Library.
POWER Library E-Resources
For those of you inside your buildings...
Please test all the POWER Library links on your website from inside your school:- If you are prompted for a library barcode or eCard number, please get your current external/public IP address or range from your technology department and send it us by submitting a Support Form.
- If you encounter any other access problem, check your links to make sure that you are using the correct, school-specific links. You can get a list of your school's links by using our Links Generator.
- If using the current links does not solve the problem, let us know by submitting a Support Form. Please describe the problem in as much detail as you can. If possible, send screenshots, they are wonderfully helpful in troubleshooting access issues.
For everyone...- Make sure that you are using the current POWER Library icons on your website. Logos are available for downloading icons for POWER Library, POWER Kids, POWER Teens and the individual POWER Library e-resources in the Outreach Materials section of POWER Library for Librarians.
- Log into the Current Statistics module and set up your profile to send you monthly statistics by email. If you are not sure how to do that, download the POWER Library E-Resource Statistics documentation and look for the section called "Generating Monthly Reports."
Access Pennsylvania Catalog and Interlibrary Loan System (SHAREit) - Take a look at your Participant Record to make sure it is current and correct. Participant Record documentation is available if you need a refresher on how to complete it.
- We ask that schools update their holdings in Access Pennsylvania at least once a year. Some choose to update twice a year. If it has been more than a year since you updated your library's holdings, please contact us about doing so by submitting a Support Form.
