New Civil War Collection Available in PA Photos and Documents!
Personal War Sketches of the Members of Strong Vincent Post No. 67 of Erie
This digital collection includes personal accounts of Erie natives who served during the United States Civil War. Each sketch is an interview with a Civil War veteran that provides enlistment information, service locations, and injury and/or discharge information. These unique accounts comprise an invaluable record of Erie County’s role in the Civil War.

Here is a sample entry:
Comrade George Demand 
Who was born the Fifteenth day of June A.D. 1833 in Prussia.
Entered the service September 6th, 1862, as a Private Company "K"
145th Pennsylvania Volunteers.
In the engagement at Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13th, 1862,
Comrade Demand received a terrible wound in the left leg which 
necessitated amputation at the knee. 
Was discharged February 16th, 1863 as a Sergeant.
Died August 31, 1910
