POWER Library
Training Survey
The user experience goes beyond outstanding customer service!
At HSLC, we recognize that your experiences as users of the POWER Library must be considered with every initiative we implement. We are committed to engaging with you, our participants, to ensure you are getting the most out of POWER Library so that you can best serve your patrons and, indeed, your entire community.

If librarians and library staff do not feel confident about utilizing the resources on POWER Library, then it’s unlikely your patrons/students are aware of all of the resources that are freely available to them. Pennsylvania libraries are crucial to bridging our communities to the digital services provided by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

In the spirit of creating a fantastic user experience, we recognize training library staff on the POWER Library and its contents is a key component in improving access and in growing our already dynamic profession.  To assist us in our efforts to offer the best training options, we want to hear from you!

The following POWER Library training survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will offer valuable insight into developing a training model to best serve all Pennsylvania libraries and, in turn, help grow and improve the POWER Library for all residents of the Commonwealth.

Thank you in advance for your time! The survey will remain open through July 31, 2021.

PA Photos and Documents - Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) Harvest Update
Check out all that was accomplished during the latest harvest:
  • 99 new PA Photos and Documents collections added to the DPLA
  • 28 new institutions contributing to the DPLA
  • 53 new collections from the Pennsylvania State Archives added
  • Numerous new records created since the last harvest in March
Sounds good! But what is the DPLA? The DPLA collaborates with partners to equip libraries to make millions of materials from libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural institutions across the country available to all in a one-stop discovery experience. In Pennsylvania, PA Photos and Documents works with PA Digital to make materials discoverable via the DPLA.

You can find a specific institution’s collections in the DPLA by clicking on the “Contributing Institution” dropdown found third from the bottom under the “Refine your search” column on the left hand side of this DPLA page. This dropdown only contains the top fifty PA Photos and Documents institutions that have contributed more than 192 records to the DPLA.  To find contributing institutions missing from the top fifty list, try searching for the contributing institution in quotations (e.g., “Pennsylvania State Archives”).
