Explore Genealogy Digital Collections in PA Photos and Documents

While many of the digital collections included in PA Photos and Documents, such as the local newspapers, photographic collections, etc., can be used for genealogical purposes, there is a group of collections specifically identified for genealogy research. 

The genealogy collections are:

  • African American Burials in Somerset County (Meyersdale Public Library)
  • African American Heritage Collection (Pennsylvania Highlands Community College)
  • Cambria County Immigration Declarations (Pennsylvania Highlands Community College)
  • Chester County Board of Relief (Chester County History Center)
  • Civil War Grave Registrations (Whitehall Township Public Library) - See more about this collection below.
  • Ennion Cook Account Book Collection (Chester County History Center) 
  • George Liebegott Genealogy Collection (Martinsburg Community Library)
  • Historic Books (Whitehall Township Public Library)
  • Pennsylvania Genealogy Collection (State Library of Pennsylvania)
  • Regimental Histories (State Library of Pennsylvania)
  • The Christopher Sauer, Jr. Diary and Account Book (Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center)

The Civil War Grave Registrations collection includes over 2,300 entries that contain the grave registration forms of veterans of the Civil War buried in Lehigh County, PA. Upon burial, these forms were filed with the local Veterans Affairs. Records exist with data from Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties and also include a few Confederate veterans' records.
