Access PA Notice: Updated Library Names in SHAREit

The names of some libraries have been updated in SHAREit for the following reasons:

  1. Updates to official "government" name
Many of you were listed in SHAREit by names other than your institution’s official “government” name, i.e., the name under which you are listed with the state. Library names needed to be updated to match the library's current Office of Commonwealth Libraries name so that audit scripts will function. An example of this is Catasauqua Public Library, which is actually “Public Library of Catasauqua.”
  2. Future considerations
As we move forward with our ZTarget project (and NCIP to follow), how libraries appear in the PAC is crucial to the mapping of the institutions’ holdings. We have updated a few institution names to line up with changes in mapping. Case in point: Spring Township Library now appears as Reading District Libraries - Spring Twp.

If the name of your institution has changed and you have questions or concerns about it, please reach out to HSLC support.

Please do not alter the changes yourself in the Participant Record, as that is not the only place that these changes have been made. If the names do not line up correctly, it could cause serious issues with the lending strings. The name on your account is not necessarily how it appears in the PAC or in the mapping.

POWER Library/Access PA Annual Technology Support Fee Notice

The technology support fee will remain the same for 2024-25.

Invoices will be distributed in April of 2024.

What are the cost-savings of participating in POWER Library?
Statewide contracts for POWER Library resources are paid by the Pennsylvania Department of Education/Office of Commonwealth Libraries.  In turn, your school or library benefits by not having to purchase these databases from local funds.

  • It would cost a school $56,515 to subscribe to all of the e-resources in POWER Library on their own.
  • It would cost a public library $73,366 to subscribe to all of the e-resources in POWER Library on their own.

In addition to cost-savings, participants are provided with enhanced support, training, and custom programming for access to the e-resources.
