Attention: K-12 Participants:
ILL Summer Holiday Mode Begins April 26

The end of the school year is fast approaching, so we will be placing all K-12 school SHAREit accounts into Holiday Mode beginning Friday, April 26th, 2024. This will prevent schools from receiving any new loan requests as they prepare to shut down their libraries for summer break. School accounts will come out of Holiday Mode and begin receiving requests again on Monday, September 9th, 2024.

Are You Prompted for a Library Card or eCard Number When Inside Your Library or School?

Your POWER Library support team at HSLC maintains an I.P. database to which all I.P. addresses must be included for users inside your institutions to successfully access POWER Library E-Resources.

If you are prompted for a library card number or eCard number when inside your institution, we can help you resolve that issue.

To expedite the resolution of this issue for your institution, please ask your I.T. staff to provide you with all the available external I.P. addresses in use at your institution, and send that list to HSLC support.

Get Ready for Summer with Another Live POWER Hour Session!

Soon the weather will be warmer, school will be out, and summer reading will begin. POWER Library is ready. Are you?
This live information session will focus on how to get summer ready with POWER Library.

During the POWER Hour, we will cover:

  • POWER Library social media and outreach materials
  • Review POWER Library/Access PA ILL summer checklist for school library participants
  • Open Q&A on all your POWER Library related questions
Who should attend?
This is a great opportunity for any public/school library hosting a summer reading program to explore additional resources and learn where to find fun social media, graphics, and more to help spread the word.

Are you a new school library staff member or a seasoned staffer looking for a refresher?  This session will help you answer those "What do we do with POWER Library/Access Pennsylvania ILL in the summer" questions (don't worry we got you!).
The session will be offered twice on Tuesday, April 23.

POWER Library/Access PA Annual Technology Support Fee Notice

The technology support fee will remain the same for 2024-25.

Invoices will be distributed in April of 2024.

What are the cost-savings of participating in POWER Library?
Statewide contracts for POWER Library resources are paid by the Pennsylvania Department of Education/Office of Commonwealth Libraries.  In turn, your school or library benefits by not having to purchase these databases from local funds.

  • It would cost a school $56,515 to subscribe to all of the e-resources in POWER Library on their own.
  • It would cost a public library $73,366 to subscribe to all of the e-resources in POWER Library on their own.

In addition to cost-savings, participants are provided with enhanced support, training, and custom programming for access to the e-resources.
