Staying Informed About E-Resource Developments
A 50% reduction in the budget for E-Resources for Fiscal Year 25 (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026) is currently anticipated.
Due to a projected 50% reduction in federal funding, we are planning for a decrease in the number of E-Resources in POWER Library. While this doesn’t necessarily mean a 50% cut in the number of E-Resources, available funding will be significantly diminished. Please note that funding details are still evolving, and final figures have yet to be confirmed.

To support a thoughtful and informed decision-making process, we have proactively gathered a variety of data. This includes input from library staff and POWER Library users, as well as analysis of usage data, costs, while respecting the goal of serving a broad range of librarian, teacher, and user needs. The compiled information will be presented with recommendations to the Office of Commonwealth Libraries to help guide E-Resource decisions for Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1 2025 – June 30 2026).

Unfortunately, we will not be able to confirm before the end of the school year which subscription E-Resources will be available or unavailable after July 1st.  HSLC recognizes that school librarians are affected by this timing. If you would like to stay informed over the summer and may not have access to your school email, we encourage you to subscribe to Access Pennsylvania News using a personal email address.
