Access to the E-Resources in POWER Library is

Free with your PA library card or E-Card!

March is a month of curiosity and discovery. From science and nature to women’s history and global exploration, it’s the perfect time to ask questions, investigate new topics, and expand your understanding of the world. These POWER Library resources help learners explore big ideas, uncover fascinating facts, and dig deeper into subjects that spark interest.

🔬 Science in Action
Fuel your curiosity with in-depth science content covering biology, chemistry, environmental science, physics, and more. Science Reference Source provides reliable articles, experiments, and topic overviews that make complex ideas easier to understand. Whether you’re researching ecosystems, renewable energy, or space exploration, this resource offers trustworthy information to support projects and presentations.
Suggested Use: Try a “Science Curiosity Challenge” — pick one science topic you’ve always wondered about and find three new facts you didn’t know before. Bonus: Turn one fact into a mini-poster or quick presentation!

Step into more than a century of exploration, discovery, and storytelling with the National Geographic Magazine Archive. This iconic publication offers complete, unlimited access to every issue from 1888 through 2020—fully searchable and rich with vivid photography, detailed maps, engaging videos, and in-depth reporting. Covering society, cultures, science, technology, travel, geography, and the natural world, National Geographic has long interpreted life on our planet—and beyond—through powerful personal stories and groundbreaking journalism.
Suggested Use: Try a “Then & Now” exploration challenge—search for a country, animal, or scientific discovery and compare how it was covered decades ago versus more recent issues. How has our understanding changed? What predictions were accurate?

Celebrate Women’s History Month by exploring the lives of remarkable women whose curiosity, courage, and determination reshaped science and discovery. SIRS Discoverer features engaging, accessible biographies that highlight innovators like Jane Goodall, whose groundbreaking work transformed our understanding of chimpanzees; Stephanie Kwolek, the chemist who invented Kevlar; and Rosalind Franklin, whose research was critical to uncovering the structure of DNA.

Beyond biographies, SIRS provides background articles and contextual resources that connect these women’s achievements to larger scientific movements and historical moments—making it easy to see how their work continues to influence our world today.
Suggested Use: Choose one woman whose story inspires you and explore how her perseverance led to discovery. Share one interesting fact you learned or reflect on how her contributions still impact everyday life.
