Access PA Notice - Download Cart Issue In SHAREit
It has come to our attention that there is a problem with the Download Cart in SHAREit. The records are coming up “UNKNOWN.”
It looks something like this:
Auto-Graphics is aware of the issue and is actively working on a solution to the problem.

In the meantime, we have a workaround that will allow you to continue to bulk download MARC records from SHAREit. The PDF at the link below takes you through it step-by-step. It’s not as elegant as the cart solution, but it works just as well.

Pennsylvania State Archives Is Accepting Applications For The Historical and Archival Records Care Grant Program!
The Pennsylvania State Archives will be issuing grants up to $5,000 for single community groups and organizations in Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC) and the Pennsylvania State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Historical & Archival Records Care (HARC) grant program.

The application deadline is August 2, 2021.

Funding is available to historical records repositories, including (but not limited to): historical societies; libraries; universities; local governments; and school districts for collections care, including surveying; inventorying; preserving; arranging; and describing historical records significant to Pennsylvania, as well as for records reformatting and equipment.

Single applicants can apply for grants up to $5,000, collaborative projects with two applicants are eligible for up to $10,000; collaborative projects with three applicants are eligible for up to $15,000. No match is required. Funding is provided by PHMC.

The HARC program is designed to improve the preservation of historically valuable records. Grants will be awarded based on a competitive review of the application by a sub-committee of the SHRAB.

A webinar will be held on June 29, providing an overview of eligibility, guidelines and offering tips for a competitive proposal. Register for the webinar!

Reminder - Black Freedom Struggle From ProQuest Is Available In POWER Library!
The Black Freedom Struggle resource features select primary source documents related to critical people and events in African American history.
By centering on the experiences and perspectives of African Americans, it is hoped that this collection imbues the study of Black history with a deeper understanding of the humanity of people who have pursued the quest for freedom, and the significance of movements like Black Lives Matter.

The Black Freedom Struggle website presents primary source documents from several time periods in American History, and contains approximately 1,600 documents focused on six different phases of Black Freedom:
  • Slavery and the Abolitionist Movement (1790-1860)
  • The Civil War and the Reconstruction Era (1861-1877)
  • Jim Crow Era from 1878 to the Great Depression (1878-1932)
  • The New Deal and World War II (1933-1945)
  • The Civil Rights and Black Power Movements (1946-1975)
  • The Contemporary Era (1976-2000)
